July 3rd Thursday is fast approaching!

The July Third Thursday event is fast approaching – Thursday, July 18th. This month’s recipient is the Don Harman Memorial Summer Slam Softball Tournament.  

The family of FOX4 meteorologist Don Harman, who committed suicide, hosts an annual slowpitch, co-ed softball tournament to benefit the foundation established after his death. This is a men’s D/E USSSA sanctioned tournament.

The actual tournament is on Saturday, July 27th at Blue Valley Sports Complex, located at 137th and Switzer in Overland Park, Kansas.  First place in each division will receive $300 cash as well as a new bat and 12 pairs of batting gloves!  And LOTS of raffle items this year!

“3RD THURSDAY IN MARTIN CITY” – GENERAL INFORMATION

The goal of “3rd Thursdays in Martin City” is to support local community organizations by donating a percentage of sales from Martin City businesses during a select period of time, on the third Thursday of each month.  10% from sales generated between 5:00 and 9:00 pm at participating Martin City businesses will be donated to a different organization each month.

Summer Fun at Eagles Gymnastics!

Eagles Gymnastics – A Kid’s Activity Center is THE place to be this Summer!!  Plenty of Camps, Classes and Open Gyms to have fun and stay fit all summer long!

SUMMER CAMPS:

• June 10th through August 9th
• Two camp themes each day: Crafty Creations, Lights-Camera-Action, Imagination Station, Trampoline & Tumbling, Super Heroes and Barbie Princess and more!
• Half days, full days, full weeks available – mix and match your camp days all you want!
• Each camp includes a FREE meal
• Every Friday is WATER FUN DAY. They set up a HUGE slippy-slide and include plenty of camp time to splash and slide.
• Back-handspring camp every Saturday through summer

CLASSES ALL SUMMER:

• Eagles Class Schedule is year round so their current class schedule will continue through the summer and on into the fall.
• They are always month-to-month so even with a crazy summer schedule, many times you can still squeeze in at least one month of classes during the summer!
• If that’s not possible, you might consider their PUNCH CARDS. You pay for a card worth 4 classes, then attend classes as your schedule allows. The punch card is good for a year- so you have plenty of time to use the classes up.

OPEN GYMS ALL SUMMER

Eagles Gym runs Open Gyms all summer for anyone who wants to participate. A coach is always on site to supervise.

• Friday 10am-11am (for age 2-5 year olds)
• Friday 5:30-7pm (all ages)
• **First Friday of the Month: 7pm-8:30pm**
• Saturday 1-2:30pm (all ages)

Play Paintball at Martin City Sports Complex!

If you love to play Paintball, Martin City Sports Complex is the place for you!  The facility has an incredible outdoor wooded paintball field as well as a speed ball field for hours of paintball fun. The paintball fields are located in the back of their golf facility and offers 3 acres of paintball extreme!  You even get to ride in the Paintball EXPRESS to get to the paintball field! (The Paintball Express is a real Army truck… it makes your experience even more realistic!)

No experience necessary.

Teaching life skills the “Mac-N-Seitz Way”

Mac-N-Seitz was founded in 1996 by former major league Baseball players, Mike Macfarlane and Kevin Seitzer. Their goal and dream was to provide Kansas City with a high caliber, professional baseball school using their 25+ years of major league experience and they did just that right here in Martin City, Missouri!  The instructors at Mac-n-Seitz are experienced players who have undergone intense training with Mike and Kevin.  They not only know baseball and softball, but really love to teach and train kids.

Many people don’t know this but Mac-N-Seitz has a facility that is over 47,000 Square Feet!  They have a full size, indoor, major league infield with professional field turf for member’s use, 4 pitching mounds,  4 long tunnel hitting cages…slow, medium, fast, and very fast with slow pitch softball in the slow cage, and 22 training areas available by reservation.  They also have a running track and a pro shop.

Mac-N-Seitz has recently changed how their performance training works in order to better benefit the athletes. Instead of having classes that are divided up by age group, they are individualizing the programming to better suit the schedule and performance needs of the individuals. The training model will be semi-private with a maximum of 8 clients per wave, with multiple waves a night. This new style will allow clients of all ages to work side by side within their individual programs.  CLICK HERE for more information on times/waves.
